Here is just a small utility to edit uefi variables in windows! Incredibly enough there is no such utility available. So, I coded one. Note: to discourage the use of this utility for malware, I obfuscated the code. Some antiviruses may give you a false positive because of this. But the program is totally safe. One of the reasons is overheating... and this is known. What is not known is that these boxes have by default the android media indexer active. They don't have enough memory to handle that and that causes problems. I solved the problem without losing any data! The solution is pretty simple: disable the media indexer. And here is how: The simple way to solve this it to enable USB debugging mode and connect to the phone using "adb" (android debug bridge) utility. Then issue the command adb connect [box ipaddress]:5555 (on the box a popup will appear asking you if you want to authorize this operation. July 17, 2018 Since a few days the phone of my girlfriend (a SONY ERICSSON XPERIA Z3 dual) had all kinds of problems including the notification sounds totally gone. I solved the problem without losing any data! I remebered that years ago I posted on this blog ( www.zibri.org ) about a way to solve another problem (my phone was not going to deep sleep anymore) and I found out that just resetting a few settings solved the problem, I used the same method to solve a lot of situations including this. The user can change the region 4 times (the first time is changed automatically when the first DVD is played). After some research I found that many players have secret SCSI commands to reset the counter. This is called vendor reset. Also this is limited though. And can be used only 5 times. But since I don't like commercial limits, I wrote a small utility that can reset everything. Have a look at this github link. LG-DVD-REGION-RESET The script has been tested and it's guaranteed on LG (and HP) DVDRAM GUD0N and GUD1N It can work also on many other LG players probaby GT series, but I can't vouch for them since I only have these two in my laptops.
